"The Limited" Acrylic Storefront Sign

This acrylic sign once marked the entrance of a "The Limited " store (now a Belk subsidiary), a fashion staple in American malls during the 1980s and 1990s. Its bold typography and clean design evoke the heyday of mall culture and fast fashion’s rise. Donated by a community member in Melbourne, Florida, this sign most likely hung in the Melbourne Square Mall. This sign also spent part of its life hanging in the former Archives Room above historical documents, implying the documents are limited in copies.
