Vintage and Antique Items

What do a 1984 Olympia International typewriter, a pre-1910 Millers Art Nouveau slag glass lamp, and a steamer trunk once owned by opera legend Ernestine Schumann-Heink have in common? They’re all part of our archive, of course.

MTTS isn’t just about researching Melbourne’s history, we also collect artifacts that embody it! From vintage electronics and mall signage to furniture, sewing machines, and forgotten relics, our collection reflects the stories and styles that shaped our city.

And no, we don’t buy these items. Every piece was donated, rescued from downsizing, saved from the curb, or handed over with the words, “This is too special to throw out.” Community members from Melbourne, West Melbourne, and Palm Bay have all pitched in to give their items a second life with MTTS.

Below, in order of acquisition, you’ll find all the vintage, antique, and odd items we’ve collected over the course of our existence. You can also click on each item to read the item's description, when it was manufactured, and when it it finally upgraded to "In MTTS's Care" status.
